Displaying IMG_6956.JPGThe Bard is best known for his plays, but his poems were the focus of yesterday’s sonnet workshop. The English-Speaking Union organized the event for local teachers at the Morgan Library and Museum in Manhattan. The program included interactive, poetry workshops lead by the ESU and the Teachers & Writers Collaborative (the organizers of Poetry Out Loud in New York State).  Participants read, recited and even wrote sonnets!  Teachers were also treated to an up-close look at rare materials from the Morgan’s collection by a curator (including one of their First Folios) and a complimentary tour of the museum.  Some of the lesson plans featured at this workshop are available for free here.
